The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing secretarial and administrative support to the following: Director of Care, Nursing, Maintenance, Laboratory, and Radiology departments, Clinical Nurse Educator, Healthy Living Program, Community Cancer Services, Junior Volunteer Program, Administration team, and Visiting Specialists.
Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 19-bed acute care hospital which integrates home and community care into one facility. Services include emergency/outpatient, medical/surgical, maternity, palliative care, laboratory, radiology, pediatrics, home & community care and community cancer clinic. The medical staff in Smithers consists of family physicians, anesthetists, a pediatrician, visiting surgeons and other specialists.

• Business/Office Administration certificate plus three (3) to five (5) years previous recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and Abilities: • Typing of 60 w.p.m. • Advanced word processing skills and computer application programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Outlook, and Scheduler. • Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize and complete work projects without supervision. • Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment. • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, physicians, and the general public.
