Position Summary

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization and working within the scope of Regional Northern Health (NH) Policies and Processes, NH Regional Food Safety Plan, and NH Regional Food Sanitation Plan, this position is responsible for the preparation, storage and service of meals for residents, staff and visitors including catering. The Cook II performs duties such as preparing/portioning assigned food items, planning cooking and preparation schedule, coordinating workflow in assigned area, providing work direction to designated food service staff, ordering and receiving supplies, processing invoices, sanitization of production equipment and work areas, and related administrative functions.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: As required

Parkside Intermediate Care Home is a one storey facility that houses 58 residents in single occupancy rooms; each room has its own washroom. There are three separate wings, the 300 and 400 wing house 22 rooms each and the 200 wing has 14 rooms. At the end of the 300 and 400 wing there is a private sitting area for residents/family. Recreation Therapy is provided on site, which provides activities such as hymn-sing, school visits with the elderly, choral groups.

Prince George has a population of 89,490 (2021) local residents and is a service centre for approximately 320,000. Qualifications

- Graduation from a recognized 12 month program in cooking plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operated related equipment.
