Position Summary

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position provides support services to residents in accordance with the pre-established care plan. The Long-Term Care Aide works cooperatively with residents, colleagues, families, and volunteers to create a respectful, positive home like environment. This includes assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, oral hygiene and assisting with therapeutic recreation activities while promoting maximum independence. Performs delegated tasks for which delegation of tasks training has been completed.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 plus graduation from a recognized Home Support Attendant/ Resident Care Aid Program or equivalent combination of current education, training and experience.
• Registered on the BC Care Aid Registry.
• Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.
• Use of personal vehicle.
• First Aid Certificate and CPR

• Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with clients, family, and care team.
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
