Position Summary

Are you a Lifeskills Support Worker looking to highlight your knowledge, skills, and abilities in a new and dynamic environment? We currently have an opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to Northern Health.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, the position works with other community agencies and staff to assist clients with life skills and psychosocial rehabilitation interventions. A key component of this job is to ensure the well-being of individuals and families and to promote independent living while in the community.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Social Service.
• Class V BC Driver’s License.
• Certificates in CPR, First Aid and Food Safe.
• Two years recent, related experience in a mental health setting.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to work in an independent living model with adults with mental illness.
• Demonstrated ability to teach in both group home and one-to-one settings.
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to organize and prioritize.
• Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
• Home management skills.
• Ability to analyze and resolve problems.
• Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
• Advocacy skills.
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
