Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at GR Baker Memorial Hospital.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position works within the GR Baker Memorial Hospital and Quesnel Health Services to plan, implement, deliver and evaluate services in relation to:
• Intravenous Therapy (IVT) assessment, education and treatment of patients of all ages who require outpatient IV Therapy
• Pulmonary Emboli Therapy
• Pre-delivery teaching for selected patients
• Stress Testing for selected patients
• Cancer Care Services including Chemotherapy

The Ambulatory Care Nurse provides, coordinates, and implements nursing care including patient assessment, patient & family teaching, delivery of care, provision of health promotion information and navigation support to cancer patients, in accordance with established practices. As a member of the Ambulatory Care team, works closely with interdisciplinary team members including Medicine, Pharmacy, Social Work, Dietitian and Community Services staff. The responsibilities are carried out in accordance with standards, protocols, and agency expectations and the goals for professional nursing practice.

A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPRs) are starting in B.C.! Northern Health, alongside B.C.'s other health authorities, is implementing mNPRs as a transformative staffing initiative that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Chemotherapy Certification.
• Post-basic course in Oncology Nursing.
• Must have a current BC Drivers License and own a vehicle.
• Three (3) years recent (within 2 years) related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience acceptable to the employer.

• Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts including co-workers, physicians, community agency representatives, patients & families.
• Ability to plan and organize.
• Ability to teach patients/clients.
• Ability to perform venipuncture.
• Able to operate related equipment.
