COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST, GOHEALTH BC

Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our Communications department.

The Communications Specialist, GoHealth BC is a member of the team responsible for the development and implementation of Northern Health’s marketing communications strategies and specializes in marketing and promoting the GoHealth BC as an opportunity for health care professionals to work within Northern Health and all health regions of BC.

This position will be involved in program development, including collaborating with external and internal partners, such as the Ministry of Health, all health authority partners and provincial organizations involved in the GoHealth BC. Additionally, this position will take an active role in all digital, public and employee sourcing/engagement work pertaining to program recruitment and marketing including:
• Content development, including researching, interviewing, writing, editing, and planning
• social media management;
• Web and multimedia management, such as content publishing;
• Project managing the organization and planning of ongoing, long-term content and related strategies;
• Assisting the communications team and program areas with content planning and development;
• Providing digital communications support for the purpose of GoHealth BC recruitment, engagement, and marketing.

The salary range for this position is $76,111 (min) to $95,138 (midpoint) to $109,409 (max) per annum, based on 1.0 FTE. Northern Health typically establishes salaries within the minimum and midpoint of the salary range based on qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism;
• A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations in corporate environment;
• Experience in the support, development and administration of social media, multimedia, website content management systems, including experience in the development, writing and editing of content.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Previous experience in a health care, government, public sector, not-for-profit or corporate environment an asset.
• Knowledge of current health topics and issues in B.C. and within the NH region are an asset.
• Knowledge of recruitment practices are an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
• The ability to develop interesting and engaging original content.
• Outstanding written communication skills.
• Outstanding copy/editing skills
• Demonstrated expertise writing for a variety of media, including print, video (scripts), social media and web.
• Extensive knowledge of communications tools and practices used within a corporate environment.
• Experience with social media, multimedia and website development.
• Working knowledge of design, photography, publications production, desktop publishing and electronic communications.
• Proven experience developing promotional campaign plans and materials for the purpose of community engagement, both online and not.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally in a confident and effective manner.
• Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships between organizations and groups.
• Ability to handle confidential and/or sensitive issues in a professional manner.
• Ability to remain calm, alert and high functioning under stressful situations.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to set priorities and be results-oriented.
• Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and other stakeholders in a wide variety of settings across the organization.
• Flexibility to provide after-hours service in emergency or unpredictable circumstances.
