ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT (SCAN)

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Administrative Assistant to support the Specialized Services department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position performs a variety of clerical duties related to the work of the Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect (SCAN) Clinic, such as scheduling out-patient appointments, arranging meetings, inputs client intake information, receptionist functions, medical and psychology transcription, typing, requisitioning supplies, monitoring expenditures, data entry, and other related clerical duties. Occasional supervision of children required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12.
• Graduation from a recognized Office Administration Certificate program.
• Medical Terminology Course.
• Recent, related experience of three (3) years, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to type at 60 wpm.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Physical and mental ability to carry out the duties of the position.
