HEALTH UNIT AIDE

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Health Unit Aide to support the Home and Community Care department.

Under the supervision of the Community Care Coordinator, this position is responsible for administrative support duties for the clinical services staff of the Home Nursing Care, Community Rehabilitation and Health Services for Community Living Programs. Specific duties are ordering and maintaining medical supplies and equipment and setting up equipment and furnishings, photocopying, faxing, and collating printed materials as required.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30

Nats’oojeh Hospital and Health Centre
This new state-of-the-art facility is three times the size of the previous hospital and includes 27 beds, with 18 long-term care and 9 acute-care beds. It features an expanded emergency department, larger laboratory and diagnostic imaging spaces, and has been designed to be welcoming to everyone, reflecting local Indigenous culture.

The new facility has improved the healing environment and provides culturally safe care for residents of Fort St. James, surrounding areas, and local Indigenous communities.

Fort St. James is Located on the southeast shore of Stuart Lake is the district of Fort St. James. The town has been restored as a national historic site and has a total population of approximately 4,500. The main industries in Fort St. James are forestry, mining and tourism. The town is also a scenic gateway to a 300 km network of lakes and rivers. Fort St. James is well serviced, has affordable housing and is close to big city amenities. Qualifications

• Minimum grade 12 or equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver’s class 5 license.

Skills and Abilities:
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work.
• Ability to operate computers, basic word processing and e-mail.
• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to do the physical tasks of the job.
• Ability to work with staff and the public.
