Reporting to the Health Service Administrator, the Manager, Support Services manages and coordinates Food, Clinical Nutrition, Environmental Services and Laundry Services within and across designated sites. Responsibilities consist of financial and strategic planning and managing the implementation of policies and procedures, capital expenditures, cost control strategies, and human resources practices.

Starting salary will be approximately from $88,990 to $111,237 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Bulkley Valley District Hospital is a 24-bed Acute Care facility,
which integrates home and community care into one facility. Some of the services include:

Smithers Smithers is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley surrounded by three mountain ranges which provide a backdrop for the town’s Alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture. Smithers offers affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle. The population of Smithers is approximately 6,000, with an additional 5,000 from the surrounding communities that access services. There are three elementary schools, one secondary school, one alternate format school for grades 9-12 and Coast Mountain College. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics field with three (3) to five (5) years experience in a similar role in an organization or industry of moderate complexity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of BC and Dietitians of Canada.
OR
• Successful graduation from a two (2) year Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM) accredited college program in food service and nutrition management;
• Courses in management and supervision;
• Five (5) to seven (7) years recent, related experience in an acute care or long-term care facility;
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Eligible for membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management.
Plus
• Certificate of proficiency in Laundry and/or Environmental Services.
• Food Safe Level 1 and 2.
• Experience with CBORD Food and Nutrition, or other diet software, an asset.
• Valid BC Drivers License and access to reliable vehicle.

• Knowledge and skills in auditing of Environmental Services, food and laundry services in a healthcare environment.
• Proven interpersonal, coaching and effective communication skills, including listening, verbal and written.
• Ability to liaise effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and with representatives in other health care facilities, community agencies and academic institutions.
