ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, NORTH PEACE ADMINISTRATION

Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed permanent full time Administrative Assistant!

Provides administrative support services to North Peace administration with targeted support to the Director of Patient Services. This position will also provide backup support to the role of Executive Assistant to the Health Services Administrator.
Administrative experience in a healthcare setting is considered an asset. This position supports senior leadership and requires experience in complex administrative areas.

Starting salary will be approximately from $47,064 to $58,830 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Some more highlights about the hospital:
• Endoscopy suite, 2 state-of-the-art operating rooms, plus a procedure room
• Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
• Medical and Surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)
• 3 Intensive care units
• Minor surgeries
• 7 single Maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum Fort St. John also has the Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic which serve the community.

Fort St. John is known as “The Energetic City,” which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort St John is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma plus three (3) to five (5) years progressive administrative assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Previous experience working for a senior manager an asset.
• Previous experience working with trending and analysis of data considered an asset.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to type 50 wpm.
• Proficiency in word processing skills, specifically MS Word, MS Office, MS Excel, email, and Outlook Scheduler.
• Exceptional skill in report writing and in producing graphics, charts and tables.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Demonstrated ability to initiate, organize and complete work projects without close supervision.
• Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology an asset.
