Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Seven Sisters.
Under the direction of the Team Leader Mental Health and Addiction Services, Residential and Recovery the role provides clinical nursing services within a recovery model of care. This position works across Services with an interdisciplinary team, provides clinical supervision and assists with the day-to-day delivery of services needed for the ‘recovery model of care’, including the administration of medications and assessment of an individual’s physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and cultural issues from a rehabilitative perspective. The nurse is expected to engage the individual and family as people with full competence and as full collaborators in service planning, delivery, and evaluation.
A first in Canada: minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) are starting in B.C.! Northern Health, along side other health authorities, is implementing mNPR as a transformative staffing solution that aims to improve the working environment of nurses in order to provide better quality care to our patients.
Qualifications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
• Experience in residential services preferred.
• RPN/RN with extensive experience and proven organizational and leadership abilities.
• Five (5) years recent Mental Health experience.
• Current registration in professional association.
Skills and Abilities:
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Experience working within a community setting with adults with a mental illness.
• Ability to assess situations and diffuse crisis incidents
• Ability to complete nursing assessment of individuals with psychiatric disorders
• Knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation
• Knowledge of importance of relationship building, motivational and activation techniques.
• Computer skills.
• Good written and verbal reporting skills.
• Good organization, time and general management skills.
• Class IV Driver’s License and own transportation.
• Current criminal record check.
• Full understanding of the Community Care Facilities Act.
