Position Summary

Under the direction of the Site Coordinator, Stikine Health Centre, provides acute and public health services to a small isolated community. The position employs individual and community assessments to identify needs and provide health services in clinic, community, home and school environments, to individuals and target groups; plans, organizes, implements and evaluates community health services in order that individual and community health will be improved, wellness promoted, and disease and illness prevented where possible; coordinates Community Health Nursing services with those of other community services and agencies. This position will involve a flexible work schedule. Practice within the guidelines of the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP), the Canadian Nurses’ Association and the College of Pharmacists.
 
Qualifications

- Registration with BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN registrant.
- Three (3) years of recent related experience in multilevel clinical nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the facility.
- Post diploma certificate in Critical Care or Emergency Nursing, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Current CPR certification
- Valid class 5 drivers license.
- Desirables; Current First Aid Certificates (WCB Safety and oriented First Aid, Survival First Aid or Industrial First Aid) BTLS, ACLS.

- Demonstrated ability to organize and set priorities
- Ability to provide complete client care in acute and community settings
- Good Communication and public relations skills
- Physical Ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to maintain current knowledge of both acute and public health functions by participating in relevant staff meetings, in-service presentations, etc.
- Ability to maintain an appropriate level of knowledge of the roles and functions of community organizations, which have partnership roles with acute and public health services.
- Knowledge of and skills in community development, building partnerships, health promotion, adult education, organization, group facilitation, problem solving processes, decision making process, team work.
- Knowledge and skills in use of information technology – word processing, email, internet, public health information systems, etc.
