Position Summary

The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Population and Public Health regional office. Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO), the Administrative Assistant is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and providing administrative support activities related to financial, organizational planning, labour relations and human resources, within established policies and procedures.

- Grade 12 with completion of a one year recognized business/secretarial certificate.
- Three (3) years to five (5) recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to be discreet and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to function with little or no supervision and to handle pressure with a varied workload and multiple demands.
- Demonstrated competency to effectively manage interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to operate related office equipment.
- Computer literate with proficient knowledge of Outlook, Internet, Word, Excel, Access and Desktop Publishing.
- Ability to type 60 w.p.m.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
