Position Summary

As part of the renal team, the staff nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care related to hemodialysis and renal failure under the direction of the Head Nurse or Nurse In Charge. Practice is guided by the Standards of Nursing Practice in British Columbia and in accordance with the Philosophy of Care for Community Dialysis and the Mission Statement of the Provincial Renal Program.
 
Qualifications

- Registration with BC College of Nursing Professionals as a practicing RN registrant.
- Current CPR certification.
- Prefer post-basic course in Nephrology Nursing.
- Prefer two (2) years recent experience in an acute care environment.
- Excellent knowledge of sterile/infection control procedures.
- Completion of in-house training orientation with adequate assimilation of knowledge.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the health care team, patients and family members.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
