Position Summary

The principal functions of the Environmental Health Engineering Program are to administer sections of the Health Act relating to public water supplies and the swimming pool regulations; and to provide engineering expertise and advice to the Medical Health Officers, other agencies and the public relating to Public Health Engineering aspects of drinking water, swimming pools, sewage, waste disposal and other environmental issues.

The purpose of this position is to protect the public health and safety through the application of Public Health Engineering expertise.
 
Qualifications

- Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
- Minimum of five years experience, following registration, in the fields of water supply, waste disposal or environmental management as related to public health. Possessing a master’s degree in one of these related fields or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent related experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good working knowledge of health engineering aspects of water supply, waste disposal and swimming pools.
- Skilled in communication, both in written and verbal, self motivated, sound in judgement, willing to work with others, reliable tactful and well organized.
