Position Summary

The Manager, Facility Maintenance is responsible and accountable for providing leadership of the planning, delivery, organization, coordination and evaluation of all aspects of Facility and Plant Services provided across the applicable Health Service Delivery Area (HSDA).

- Extensive mechanical background with trade qualifications in Power Engineering and/or building trades supplemented by seven (7) to ten (10) years related progressive supervisory and managerial experience in a large operation with a power plant and preferably in a hospital setting and multiunion environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in related engineering or technology field preferred.
- Registration with an appropriate professional body preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Evidence of commitment to life-long learning through completion of continuing education and selfdevelopment.
- Thorough understanding of institutional buildings and related environmental and mechanical control systems, and the various life safety and building codes, regulations and legislation that govern their operation.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, communications, mediation and negotiations.
- Effective interpersonal communication and troubleshooting skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration/consultation with others to build positive internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to promote stability and make sound decisions in fast paced uncertain environments and situations.
- Good work knowledge of and experience in a computerized environment, including building operations and control systems and computerized maintenance management systems.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout the health service delivery area.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
