Position Summary

The Regional Director, Medical Affairs provides leadership in the successful planning and implementation of medical affairs initiatives related to the ongoing restructuring, reconfiguration and delivery of physician services. Working within the framework and directions for NH’s Strategic Plan, and in support of the organization’s Vision, Mission Statement and Values, the Regional Director is accountable for the development and implementation of strategic medical staff plans and processes and the professional growth and development of the Medical Affairs support staff.

As a member of the Senior Physician Management team, the Regional Director works collaboratively with NH’s senior management and executive teams, manages the day to day operations of Medical Affairs, and on behalf of the VP Medicine, manages the VP Medicine budget to establish and address the fiscal priorities required to support the planning and implementation of physician services. The incumbent liaises with provincial, regional and local stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of medical affairs initiatives. The Regional Director also handles physician related matters on behalf of the VP Medicine and Medical Directors and assists in the management of Medical Advisory Committee issues.
 
Qualifications

- Master’s Degree in a related discipline such as Health Care or Business Administration plus ten (10) years related experience in a senior administrative position within healthcare affairs, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Demonstrated skills in budgetary management and information analysis.
- Demonstrated ability in change management and project management.
- Demonstrated ability and in-depth knowledge and understanding of systems thinking, utilization management and medical governance.
- Proficiency in the use of office software applications as effective tools in the role of a senior manager.
